Our 28 foot Contender powered with twin 200s offers the comfort, the speed and the safety to fish any of our local waters in a day trip plus a couple added comforts for family trips that aren’t on traditional fishing boats. The forward, bow seating is great for lounging. The gyro stabilizer (Seakeeper) helps minimize the rocking and rolling.
The Boat
The onboard bathroom is a luxury for most center console fishing boats. Island Time is fully equipped with all the safety gear and premium fishing equipment making for the perfect combination for productive and successful fishing trip.
About the Captain
Captain Justen Barrett, US Coast Guard Certified
Justen grew up on the island of St. Maarten in the Dutch Caribbean. Starting with fishing on the docks of a local Fishing village after he did his homework led to being brought out on the weekends by the same captains that would give him scraps from the fillets to use as bait. From that point on Captain Justen was HOOKED. All he wanted to do was fish. At the age of 12 he moved to Rhode Island to get a better education and started getting expanding into bass and fly fishing.
Right out of high school, Justen became first mate on a charter boat based in Point Judith, RI. After too many long winters in New England, Justen decided move back to St. Maarten after finishing his education in marine mechanics. With his skill and extensive area knowledge, he quickly became the go to local guide for private yachts and expats looking to learn the area on their own boats. Justen partnered up with a fellow Rhode Islander down in St. Maarten to run their own rod and reel commercial fishing for 5 years in St. Maarten.
For the past two seasons Justen has worked back on boats locally here in Rhode Island. Justen splits his time between Portsmouth, RI and St. Maarten, focusing on providing the best fishing experience to both beginners and experienced anglers.
Justen is certified in CPR, First Aid, and STCW both in the US and also internationally.
